Advertising disclosure
PayrollModo is free for business owners. The site earns money from providers and partners, so here is exactly how that works and where it stops.

Why this page exists
You never pay us to read this site, compare providers, or use our tools. The money comes from the companies we work with.
That is worth knowing, because it could shape what you see. This page lays it out in plain words so you can judge our pages for yourself. The Federal Trade Commission asks websites to disclose paid relationships, and this is how we do it.
How PayrollModo makes money
Three things pay for this site:
- Affiliate and referral fees. Partners pay us when a request or a sale comes from our pages.
- Paid listings. Providers can pay for a listing, and the price depends on the type they choose.
- Paid placement. A provider can pay to appear in certain spots on the site. We label those spots.
Our affiliate partnerships
We work with 360Connect. We also work with other affiliate partners, and some of them are companies that sell software with a payroll service.
The quote form on our pages is provided and run by 360Connect. What you type in it goes into their system rather than ours, and we keep no copy of our own, though we can view requests sent through our pages in the dashboard they give us. They pass your request to providers who can answer you. Other links on the site may send you to a partner page instead. Either way, if a request or a sale follows, the partner may pay us a fee.
What this costs you
Nothing. We do not add a fee to what you pay a provider. The fee comes out of the partner's side, not yours.
Our privacy policy explains what happens to your details when a request goes to a partner.
Paid listings and placement
A provider can pay to be listed on this site. We tell every provider the price before they buy, and we explain what the listing includes.
Paying does not skip the review. Every provider goes through the same check before a page goes live, and our editors write the page either way. Read how we verify providers for what that check covers.
Some spots on the site are paid placement. A provider paid to appear there, and the label on the page says so.
What payment does not change
There are lines we do not cross, whatever a company pays us:
- A provider cannot pay to raise its PayrollModo Rating
- A provider cannot buy the verified badge, or any other badge
- A provider cannot pay us to take a true fact off its page
- A provider cannot pay to have a competitor pushed down or removed
- Paying does not stop us from removing a listing that no longer holds up
Badges are earned by meeting the rules we publish, and we review them from time to time. If a provider stops qualifying, the badge comes off the page.
How we label paid spots
Where a spot on a page is paid for, the page says so near that spot. Where a link or a form can earn us a fee, we say so on that page or point back here.
If you ever find a paid spot that is not labeled, tell us through the contact page and we will fix it.
When you request quotes
The quote form belongs to 360Connect. Your answers go into their system, and we do not store a copy of our own, though we can view them in the partner dashboard they give us. They pass your request to providers who can reply, and those providers may contact you by phone, text, or email at the details you gave.
We also count that the form was used, so the referral can be credited.
We may earn a fee from that request. It costs you nothing, and you are never required to buy from anyone who calls.
Our guides, tools, and ratings
Our writers and editors decide what goes into the guides, the calculators, and the quizzes. Partners and paying providers do not see them before they go live, and they do not get to change them.
If a page mentions a company that pays us, that does not change the facts on the page. Where it matters, we say that a paid relationship exists.
